Nelson Fire and Rescue Services are active in the community:
The fire department museum is located in the Fire Hall. Tours are offered between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., and 10:30 a.m ,and 12 p.m. year-round. We have two 1944 Bickle-Seagrave fire trucks (an aerial and a pumper), memorabilia from the filming of the movie Roxanne, and information on fire safety.
The fire department and the union regularly raise funds for two principle charities, the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund and Muscular Dystrophy Canada. No logos.
Our staff also raise funds for local family shelters, offer first aid at mountain bike races, assist with supervising social gatherings, and bring out the antique fire trucks for automotive show n' shines.
