Downtown Commuter Parking Guide
On-Street Commuter Parking (Cedar Street)
There are 21 all-day commuter parking meters on the 300 block of Cedar Street, between Front and Vernon, at a flat rate of $5 per day (Sundays are free). Payment is either with $5 in coin at the meters, or by using a prepaid day pass. Day passes are available for purchase at City Hall, either one at a time or in bulk.
To use a Cedar Street day parking pass, the driver writes the licence plate and current date on the pass once parked at one of the commuter parking stalls and then places it on the dashboard. The ability to fill in the date allows the driver to use the pass spontaneously.
Nelson Curling Club Lot (summer only)
Click here to visit parking.nelson.ca and purchase a permit.
From April 1st until September 30th only, there are 14 commuter parking stalls located alongside the curling club building. The primary access is off Cedar Street, just above Front Street.

Permits are $5 per day, Monday through Saturday. Sundays are free. Only day permits are sold and permits are only sold online. The first time you use the system, you will be prompted to create an account and record your vehicle licence plate number. Payment is with Visa or Mastercard . You do not need to print anything out or place anything on your dashboard.
You can purchase one day at a time, or purchase multiple days in a row in one transaction. For example, you could purchase a permit starting on Thursday until Monday and you would be charged $20 – because Sunday is free.
Once you have purchased your permit, you may park in any of the 14 stalls with a sign saying "commuter or event permit required".
Parkade
There is currently a waiting list for monthly permits, however day-rate stalls at $8 per day are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The Nelson Parkade is located at 420 Vernon Street, between Ward and Stanley Streets.
