CITY OF NELSON MOVES TO LEVEL 2 WATER RESTRICTIONS
July 12, 2018
Effective immediately, the City of Nelson is moving to Level 2 Water Restrictions.
The spring snow melt has finished in the Kootenays and a stretch of hot weather is predicted for the weekend and into next week. To protect our drinking water source at Five Mile Creek, the City is implementing Level 2 water restrictions.
What does this mean?
Nelson residents can use hand-held watering devices at anytime or use irrigation systems one day per week. Nelson residents are asked not to waste water washing sidewalks, parking lots, or building exteriors. Washing personal vehicles or boats is allowed, as long a handheld shut-off nozzle is used. Using a sponge and bucket is even better!
Need to program your sprinkler system? Sprinkler systems must only be active between 4:00am to 9:00am or 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Homes with even-numbered addresses must water on Wednesdays, and homes with odd-numbered addresses must water on Thursdays.
