Hall Street Update – Week of October 22nd to October 26, 2018

Monday (October 22) and Tuesday (October 23) Hall Street will be closed to through traffic because concrete panels are being installed into the CP Crossing as well as asphalt transitions are being made to tie the new concrete panels into the asphalt surface. During this time, access to businesses on the south side of the tracks will be available from Front Street via a right in/right out access. Businesses located on the north side of the tracks will be accessible via the Cedar Street to Lakeside Drive detour route:

Once all the work at the CP crossing has been completed, the 100 Block of Hall will be reopened to through traffic.

In addition to the work they will be doing with CP forces at the rail crossing, McNally will also be finishing the instillation of shallow utilities on the east side of the parking lot area to get this area ready for curbs and sidewalks. McNally will also continue to install paving stones adjacent to the gazebo area and continue with the landscaping.

The 200 Block of Hall Street will remain closed next week while Marwest finishes installing the deep utilities (storm/sanitary) and begins the shallow utility work for servicing the adjacent properties. Access to the businesses in the West Arm Plaza remains from Front Street.

Marwest has also been making progress on installing the underground cabling that is required to initiate the commissioning process for the traffic signals at Hall and Front. If the commissioning process goes well, then the Front and Hall traffic signals may be operational as early as the end of next week. However, if there are issues encountered during the commissioning process, then the traffic signals may not be ready for full operation until the following week.

The City would like to remind residents that the businesses remain open. Motorists and pedestrians are requested to please observe all signage and the direction provided by flaggers. The speed limit in the construction zone has been set at 30 km/h.
