Crews from the City of Nelson are set to remove the Gyro Park Bridge this week.
The
bridge has reached the end of its life and needs to be removed for safety reasons.
The Gyro Park Bridge has been a staple of the Nelson landscape for years, and its demolition will be a sad moment for locals. However, it is structurally unsafe, and the infant pool cannot operate with it in place. Plans are being developed to replace it with a similar structure or something entirely new; we will consult with the community and users for your thoughts on this opportunity.
The City is working closely with the RDCK and the Gyro Club to determine 2023 plans for pool operations, so please stay tuned for a further update on this.
