[ARCHIVED] August 24th, 2018 - UPDATE #36 - Hall Street Project Phase II

36-HallStreetProgressUpdate

Hall Street Update August 27 to 31, 2018

After a busy week with paving and concrete work, the contractor (McNally) has indicated he will be performing some site clean-up work on the west-side of the parking lot and then will shift focus to the area adjacent to the Gazebo. McNally has indicated that this work will include the installation of electrical conduit and the removal of material and concrete form work.

The designer of the custom railing for the Foreshore Steps (Sunsmith Design) will be attending the site next week to take final measurements for the fabrication of the railing. Once the railing has been fabricated, the City will arrange for the installation of the rail as well as for the custom benches designed and fabricated by Liminal Design Studio.

Marwest has indicated that they intend to finish work on storm manholes F1 and F2 and proceed with the installation of the upper storm main on Front Street. They have also indicated that they will be back-filling and forming curbs on the northwest and northeast corners of Hall and Front. The installation of the curbs will allow for a lift of pavement to be installed on the north side of the intersection. This paving will help facilitate a change to the traffic management pattern on front and allow Marwest to proceed to the south side of the intersection. This change is anticipated to occur in the first week of September, but further information will be provided regarding this change as the date of the change becomes solidified.

The City would like to remind residents that the businesses remain open and that access to Gateway Plaza and 625 Hall Street is from Lakeside Drive via the Cedar Street detour route. The City also requests that drivers and pedestrians utilize caution while traveling through this busy area and to follow the signs and direction provided by the flaggers.
