The infrastructure upgrade project along Anderson Street made significant strides last week, extending water main in both directions to the project commencement and termination points. The 200 and 300 blocks of Anderson Street, east of First Street were pressure tested, chlorinated, and flushed. Based on subsequent bacteriological testing, the project engineer has authorized tie-ins to the existing system to proceed. The tie-in of the new system to the existing system will result in periods where the water will be shut off to adjacent areas. The contractor will provide notice of shut-off to properties affected, including the duration. For those without water service during the tie-in procedure, it is advised to store some water for domestic use, as the work may take several hours.

The week of April 27 to May 2 will have periods where water service will be disrupted. In addition, where individual service lines need to be replaced, shorter duration property by property service disruptions are to be anticipated. Hand delivered notices will be provided when such service disruptions are planned.

A push to finish the water main in the 100 block is also planned for the upcoming week, with tie-ins scheduled for the end of the week.

The traffic control set-up changes and adjusts to move with the crews along the alignment. Traffic will be slowed through the construction zone and disruption and short stoppages are to be anticipated; however, two-way traffic is the goal. Please pay attention to traffic control personnel and signage.
