The majority of the City of Nelson’s capital paving plan for 2020 will occur over the next few weeks in conjunction with MoTI paving of the highway through Nelson. This work will be done by Selkirk Paving Ltd (SPL).
On Monday, July 20, Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22, crews will be milling off existing road surface and overlaying with new pavement between 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Monday, July 20:
Kokanee Ave (500 block - adjacent to the highway by Dairy Queen)
Kokanee Ave (1100 & 1200 blocks)
Tuesday, July 21:
Anderson St (400 block – adjacent to the highway)
Behnsen St (500 block – adjacent to the highway)
Cottonwood St (500 block – adjacent to the highway)
Elwyn St (500 block – adjacent to the highway)
Wednesday, July 22:
Behnsen St (300 and 400 blocks)
Second St (300 and 400 blocks)

Expect periodic road closures and single lane traffic control. On-street parking will be prohibited in the impacted areas for the duration of the project. Parked cars will be towed at the owner’s expense. Traffic control personnel will allow access for pedestrians.
Residents directly affected by the work will receive notices from SPL.
How residents, visitors and businesses can help:
- Obey all signage and direction provided by flaggers
- Use an alternate routes, where possible
- Allow extra time when traveling through this area
- Park vehicles away from construction site
