Confirmed cases have increased in BC this week. Confirmed cases in the Interior region and, more specifically the Kootenay Boundary Health Service Delivery Area remain low. Even though our numbers remain low, it’s important to not become complacent.
Remember the basics. Keep your group small, wash your hands, carry a mask just in case you need it and if you feel sick stay home.
Where are we at?
According to the BC Centre for Disease Control (CDC), new case counts are generally increasing in the Interior in the past few weeks. That being said, we are not experiencing a peak similar to July.
A total of 31 new cases were reported in the Interior Health region over the course of the last week compared to 27 the previous week.

The Weekly Surveillance Report- Key Findings:
- A total of 880 new cases were reported this week in BC compared to the 833 cases reported last week.
- The number of active cases (1,371) has decreased compared to last week (1,705).
- The number of new hospital admissions has stabilized in recent weeks, with the number of cases currently in hospital similar to the numbers observed in early May.
- The number of cases currently in critical care is also stabilizing and is still much lower than counts observed in Phase 1.
Geographic Distribution:
There have been 8 new reported cases in the Kootenay Boundary Health Service Delivery Area in the past 14 days.
News:
The Province has released its monthly update on cumulative cases by the Local Health Area (LHA). Between January 1st and August 31st, 2020, there have been 10 confirmed cases in the Nelson LHA.
