CITY SEEKING VOLUNTEER CAMPGROUND HOST

January 15, 2021

The Nelson City Campground is looking for Volunteer Campground Hosts for the 2021 camping season. This is a unique volunteer opportunity with the City of Nelson, where the successful applicant(s) are required to camp at the Municipal Campground from May to October/November in exchange for assistance with the evening operations of the Nelson City Campground. 

Campground Hosts report to the Campground Manager and will be asked to actively monitor the campground from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and remain on stand-by from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, five days per week. 

The Nelson Campground Hosts will be allocated a campsite and must have their own self-contained camping RV unit. Provided campsite includes power, water and Sani-dump. 

Volunteer duties include:
  •  Communicate with staff and guests in a professional and helpful manner; 
  • Assist the Campground staff in maintaining public order, and communicate with Nelson City Police when required;
  • Greet and assist late evening check-ins: direct campers to the appropriate site and provide campground information;
  • Greet visitors to the City of Nelson, and provide information about Nelson and the surrounding area;
  • Assist staff with a variety of projects/tasks and contribute to ensuring the campground is safe, clean, and functional; report problems and any unsafe hazards as they are discovered to staff;
  • Become familiar with emergency procedures and how to carry them out when necessary; and,
  • Keep provided campsite clean and orderly.
