[ARCHIVED] Update on Fairview to Downtown Bike Route Project

IMG_0623

Most of the bike route project work has been completed along Third Street. The next step of the project is to complete the High Street component. Given that this is a key component for active transportation for pedestrians, sidewalk improvements have been included in the project.
As a reminder, this project is not creating a one-way on High Street. The corridor will become what is called a Neighbourhood Bikeway which allows two-way traffic. Traffic counts and speed are managed by way of speed humps and intersection closure.
What is happening?
➡ Intersection improvements at Edgewood and Vernon
➡ Signage
➡ New at-grade sidewalk
➡ Pavement markings
➡ High Street Corridor
➡ New at-grade sidewalk at Park St and Edgewood intersection
➡ Speed humps (6 new)
➡ Pavement markings (crosswalks + sharrows)
➡ Nelson Ave and Anderson Street Intersection
➡ Intersection closure for vehicles
➡ Bike path connecting Third Street corridor with High Street Corridor
When?
Start Date – Monday, April 26th, 2021
Anticipated Completion - Mid-June
Where?
The High Street corridor will be impacted. Expect delays and temporary detours.  The project will start at the Vernon Street intersection and will move towards Nelson Avenue.
