Mandate
The mandate of the Nelson Housing Committee is to identify housing needs and priorities; assist in finding collaborative and cost effective approaches; and provide networking opportunities for housing providers to share knowledge and identify opportunities for collaboration, cooperation and sharing of expertise.

Composition
The NHC consists of a minimum of 7 members and a maximum of 15 with representation as follows:
- Councillor Payne with Councillor Page as an alternate
- Housing providers
- West Kootenay Landlords' Society
- Industry professionals such as relators, property managers, financial institutions
- Regional Housing representatives
