The Nelson Youth Action Network is a CBT grant-funded program that supports activities and diverse opportunities based on local youth priorities to engage youth to connect more and with our community. The NYAN also collaborates with organizations that work and interact with youth. An oversight committee formed by youth, council members, and local youth workers supports youth priorities and directs NYAN and programming.

The NYAN started at the Nelson and District Youth Centre in 2017. Since 2017 NYAN has been providing several experiences for youth. These experiences include; taking youth to regional conferences, subsidized workshops to increase employability, Supporting the LGBTQIA+ community with weekly meet-ups, provide young artists with the experience to create a mural for the annual Muralfest, photography courses, improv nights, and much more!

The Youth Arts Action Committee (YAAC) is a collaboration between the Nelson Youth Action Network and the Nelson & District Arts Council that started in 2017 to give young artists the chance to learn and connect with our amazing arts community in Nelson.
